Yes , there is a automatically permalink option available but custom permalink gives your more flexibility . for example : if you once write a post with automatically permalink and in future you want to change your post title then it is not possible to change your permalink again according to your post and their is also a chance to broken links and less traffic .
With the help of screenshot I am show you where to change custom permalink setting .
Steps for change permalink from automatically to custom permalink are :
1. As you seen in screenshot you first go to the post setting which is the right side of your screen .
2. Then , move your cursor to permalink option then drop down the menu and you see the two permalink option and you see that by default automatically permalink is selected by default and URL by default is for example : if you write post how to send free messages . then the automatically URL is generated is : yourblogname.blogspot.com/2012/07/howtosendfreemessages.html
3. If you want to change to custom permalink then simply select the custom permalink and create your new URL . for example : you write post on /07/201 then your cus5tom permalink look like these : yourblogname.blogspot.com/2012/07/yourchoosecustompermalink.html
Note : you can only use character a-z small or capital and 0-9 numeric character allowed , spaces are not allowed
